Course Overview
This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, who provide training and support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.

Entry Requirements
Whilst there are no entry requirements stipulated in the training package (CHC), ICV requires its participants to meet the following criteria:
- Australian Year 11 or equivalent OR
- Mature age (at least 20 years of age)
- Meet the Language Literacy and Numeracy requirements; ICV conducts LLN entry test and a pre-training review at the time of enrolment
Work Placement
- To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency
- Students MUST obtain a Police Check before commencing work placement
Recognition of Prior Learning
- Prospective students can apply for recognition of their existing skills and knowledge that is relevant to the units of competence within the program
- These skills and knowledge may have been obtained through workplace training or experience and may reduce the number of units required to be completed during the qualification
- Students are recommended to notify ICV of their interest or intention to apply for RPL prior to their enrollment
