Course Overview
This qualification will give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver and assess nationally accredited courses and other workplace training programs.
We are confident in the delivery of our training. On successful completion of the Certificate IV in TAE40116, graduates will be guaranteed an interview from St John Ambulance (Victoria) for vacant accredited first aid trainer positions, subject to availability.

Entry Requirements
- Knowledge and skills in a specific vocational area (e.g. first aid, nursing, youth work) – you must bring evidence (resume, statement of attainment, certificate of relevant qualification) of this to your first class.
- Provide a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI)
- You must also have good oral and written communication skills in English – as part of the enrolment process, you will be required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment
- Students must have a laptop or tablet which is wi-fi enabled
- You will need good computer skills to complete the assessments involved – a full introduction to our Learning Management software will be provided in the first class
Recognition of Prior Learning
- Credit transfer and Recognition of prior learning (RPL) are two ways your previous education, training or experience can contribute to a new qualification
- At St John Ambulance you can apply for credit so your previous learning or experience counts toward your St John Ambulance program
Assessment
- A successful outcome for this certificate will be determined by a range of different assessment methods including written assessment (questionnaire), observation of simulated and practical activities etc
Upgrading from TAE40110 TO TAE40116
- If you hold TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, an upgrade program is available
- Check the list of units of competency that you have completed and compare them to the list below under credit transfer. You will find that you are entitled for up to 8 units of competency through Credit Transfer (CT)
- Depending on what you have done as a trainer, you may be able to submit a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) application for the outstanding units not covered by credit transfer. For example, participation in an assessment validation panel can be used as evidence towards TAEASS403 Participate in assessment validation
- If you don’t have enough evidence for Recognition of Prior Learning but you have completed TAEASS401B or TAEASS403B, contact your St John State or Territory office about completing a special program that will enable you to complete TAEASS401 and TAEASS403
