Course Overview
Start your career in hospitality by training as a commercial cook. Gain the hands on & theoretical knowledge to work in a commercial kitchen & start that first step into the kitchen!
This course provides practical and theoretical knowledge of a wide range of menu items covering Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner servings. The course covers all areas of food including Meat, Poultry, Seafood, Dietary Requirements & Desserts.
All of our trainers are trained chefs & will show you the tricks of the trade & bring in their experience to our kitchens and classrooms.
Our classes prepare you for working in a commercial kitchen & replicate what that is like, you will be preparing up to 8 dishes per practical class with varying difficulty levels.
Whether you want to one day open your own restaurant or just improve to cook at home, this course is a great place to start.

Duration and Study Load

- 2 days per week
Delivery
To receive this qualification you must complete 25 units; 21 core units and 4 elective units. Students attend college 20 hours per week over 2-3 days with 1 day in the kitchen.
The course is conducted in 4 stages, each comprising 10 weeks, with holidays in between.
Work Placement
As part of the course, students are required to complete 48 occasions of Work-based Training. We will assist you in finding a suitable venue for you to complete your Work-based Training.
Recognition of Prior Learning
You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Acknowledge Education.
