The Role
As a Project Lead in the Change Management Office you will lead small cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with stakeholders across Defence to execute projects that embed a One Defence People System. The future One Defence People System will better support our people, managers and the strategic centre to build workforce capability. 

Project delivery will include performing current state assessments, developing operating models, conducting change impact analysis, implementation planning and delivering a range of tailored implementation activities. The scope of these projects will vary from supporting the preparedness and delivery of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Program to enabling the reform of the Defence People System Functions.

The successful candidates will be enthusiastic, strategic thinkers with strong stakeholder engagement and highly developed communication skills. Experience in project management, HR systems and or change management are highly beneficial. Experience in leading teams to deliver high impact outcomes is also highly desirable.

About our Team
HR Transformation is a program of change and reform activities that are undertaken in response to strategic direction and drivers. HRTB provides a program view of these activities to ensure that the work is prioritised, sequenced, aligned and resourced appropriately; this includes the connections to the Education and Training domain and integration with the Joint Workforce Systems work. HRTB provides the conduit to the Defence Transformation Office for the management of transformation across the HR domain.

The Change Management Office (CMO) is responsible for the design and implementation of a new One Defence HR Operating Model. The design and implementation of this new model is being progressed in line with ERP. Achievement of the new model is through the execution of 25 initiatives; 12 enterprise level and 13 targeted at the Defence People System functions.

The CMO has a suite of tools and templates, anchored by a single methodology, that are used by stakeholders and HRTB to progress different change activities. The CMO are custodians of the process for change activities, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to effectively manage both project and people system dependencies. There is a strong reliance on colleagues across the HRTB to work in cross functional and integrated teams to effectively deliver required change.

  • are comfortable working with ambiguity and enjoy critical thinking and collaborating to solve complex problems;
  • have strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with key stakeholders;
  • have solid project management and analytical skills to effectively prioritise work, sequence deliverables and perform risk management responsibilities;
  • possess strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to make the complex simple, and the simple, compelling;
  • be comfortable facilitating workshops in both an online and face-to-face capacity;
  • have experience working on reform initiatives that contribute to the improvement of business practices or systems;
  • have experience in one or more of the following areas: Human Resources, program management, change management design, business process improvement, information systems or the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) program.
