Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife Level 1 up to 30 June 2026 with the possibility of a further 5 year extension depending on funding

The Royal Society for the Welfare of Mothers and Babies, trading as Tresillian, was formed in 1918 to coordinate early child and maternal health care services in New South Wales (NSW). Tresillian is now the largest early child and family health and parenting service in Australia, operating from four sites in metropolitan Sydney and numerous regional and rural sites supporting service provision to families across NSW, VIC and ACT.  

Tresillian is a Certified Child Safe Leader and is dedicated to creating a workplace environment where children’s rights are recognised and championed.   Tresillian provides local and state-wide services including: health and parenting assessments; parenting advice; education; and, support to families via a range of service delivery models including centre based day programs, home visiting, telephone, internet and residential services. Tresillian is pleased to offer the opportunity for motivated Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives to join the Tresillian QEII Family Centre (QEII) team within our ACT facility.    Successful applicants must hold postgraduate qualification in Child and Family Health or be willing to undertake.  

The Residential Unit provides care 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.  Applicants will be required to work on a rotating roster.  Tresillian will consider applicants who have a preference in working mostly night duty shifts.   The Registered Nurse and/or Midwife will provide a standard of excellence according to the individual’s level of experience and education for all clients and families by implementing and maintaining high quality primary health care within a safe environment.  

The Registered Nurse and/or Midwife will create an environment that facilitates working in partnership with clients and families in decision making, provision of care and the maintenance of quality primary health care services. They will analyse current trends and grow in professional awareness by being aware of developments locally, nationally and internationally, specifically in child and family health.

 Essential:

1.  Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

2.  Postgraduate/post registration qualifications in Child and Family Health or working towards the same.

3.  Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills.

4.  Demonstrates commitment to evidence based primary health care practice and continuous quality improvement.

5.  Demonstrates commitment to working in partnership with clients and families to ensure client participation in decision making about care options and the delivery of primary health care.

6.  Demonstrates commitment to maintaining competence and continuing professional development.

7.  Works within the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia’s professional standards.

Prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to: 1) Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check. 2) Comply with ACT Health Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination clinical procedure. 3) Provide evidence of COVID-19 vaccination or an approved exemption before commencement of employment.
