Hays Recruitment have a couple of positions available for suitable carpentry Trade Assistants to work within residential construction (both new and renovation builds), general commercial construction, specialist commercial construction and maintenance building construction. These positions all require well-rounded carpentry experience of assisting a tradesman onsite. All roles can start immediately and are situated in locations around Hobart.
Your new role
On a typical day you could be responsible for
- Wall noggins for fixtures & fittings
- Framing – metal stud or timber
- Putting up hoardings
- Working with power tools e.g. drop saws, power saws, planer, screw guns and nail guns
- Replacing cupboards, replacing floorboards, dealing with mould issues, re-doing bathrooms
- Hanging doors
- Formwork
- Insulation
- Building decks
What you'll need to succeed
- White card – other construction tickets highly valued
- Available construction referees from recent building work
- At least 5 years on the tools within building construction working to Australian Building codes
- Vehicle and Tasmanian C-class drivers’ licence
- A reasonable level of fitness to undertake labouring tasks and ability to pass any pre-employment medical
- For certain sites, a covid vaccination certificate (including booster) and a police check clearance are required
- Ability to read plans or follow tradesman’s instructions
- Working well with others and reliability are a must
What you'll get in return
You will be paid a qualified carpenter’s hourly rate for this TA work. You will receive a 10% contribution to the superfund of your choice, as well as receiving a 2% contribution into your Tasbuild fund, and a daily travel allowance. PPE can be supplied. You will be guaranteed regular standard hours, Monday to Friday typically from 07:00 to 15:30 for the duration of the build or project. You will receive weekly pay. You will be working in safety-first worksites.
