The Opportunity
Reporting into the Procurement Manager, APAC, this is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Category Manager to sink their teeth into a brand new role that will be responsible for the planning, analysis, and management of procurement across several key raw material categories within the James Hardie Australian business. 

Working cross-functionally with key stakeholders across the business, you will provide category analysis, insight, and support on category representations. As the subject matter expert, you will identify process improvements, to ensure alignment in strategies and the execution of annual priorities and longer-term growth initiatives. If you enjoy leading a team, we have you covered, this role will manage a small team. 

This role can be based in Sydney or Brisbane. 
  
Key Responsibilities   
You will have ownership of the assigned raw materials categories which means that you will:

  • Develop, execute, and maintain a comprehensive category strategy capable of delivering best value in safety, quality, delivery and cost.
  • Pursue continuous improvement in assigned categories by uncovering hidden areas of underperformance to drive cost improvements and increase profitability.  
  • Ensure supply continuity for all inputs within the assigned categories for the James Hardie Australian manufacturing sites. 
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and experience with contracts and supplier negotiations
  • Work in alignment with the James Hardie Zero Harm pledge and workplace safety requirements.
  • Acting as a safety leader at all times and ensuring yourself and others perform their work safely.

 
About you

  • 5+ years’ experience in procurement category management roles or similar.
  • Engineering (or technical / materials) degree / experience in a Manufacturing environment.
  • You have experience or an interest in leading a small team and have a strong focus on developing and getting the best out of your people
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop relationships and influence key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of procurement methodologies with an expertise and drive to deliver best value for money results. 
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and experience with contracts and supplier negotiations
  • Detail orientated with a strong sense of urgency.
  • High personal integrity that reflects ability to be a role model for the company.
