The Lead Project Engineer will primarily work with SunStak's Energy Geeks, Administrative Staff and the Managing Director by providing day-to-day engineering support.
You will work closely with a small team of highly self-motivated and value-driven individuals to accelerate the growth and smooth operations of our core business through the execution and Improvement of operational practices, engineering support and exceptional customer service.
This is a remote working role ideally based in the Canberra region; attendance at installation sites and SunStak’s office, warehouse and customer sites may be required from time to time. Working arrangements are deliberately flexible; however, as such, independent initiative and good communication habits are required to succeed.

Primary duties
Providing residential and commercial engineering design and support including preparing and sending quotations and conducting system performance optimisation.
Completing Connection Approvals across various networks including Evo Energy and Essential energy.
Manage correspondences and requests through the SunStak Engineering mailbox.
Provide advice on cost optimisation for the design and implementation of photo-voltaic and battery systems.
Preparing and providing regulatory compliance reports on-site and advising installers on industry best-practice.
Responsible for efficiently managing inventory, including just-in-time delivery of materials.
Preparation of key documents including Job Pack, User Manuals and develop the internal engineering related documentation required for SunStak to scale its operations nationally.
Assist the Managing Director to assess and implement new and emerging technologies and explore new avenues of growth for the company.
Support the Managing Director and Board as required.
Training and inducting new staff as required.
Work with the Administration staff and the Managing Director to schedule installations.
About you
You must have:
Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Master's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an Australian University
At least 3 years’ combined experience working in the ACT as a renewable energy engineer
Experience working with ACT specific government programs including the NextGen battery rebate program and Sustainable household scheme
Experience in the preparation and submission of commercial tenders in the ACT
Lead engineer on project up to 100kW in commercial settings and up to 30kw in residential settings within the ACT
Experience preparing Network Technical Studies within the ACT
Prepare and design electrical and control schematics
Experience complying to CEC guidelines and relevant electrical codes within the ACT including but not limited to AS3000
Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver on deadlines
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to multi-task
Be self-driven and can work in dynamic and semi structured environments
Have existing networks within the renewable industry
You may also have:
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to engage relevant internal and external stakeholders
Engineering internship experience within the ACT
Exposure to solar and storage warehousing
