 Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife Level 2 up to 30 June 2026 with the possibility of a further 5 year extension depending on funding

The Royal Society for the Welfare of Mothers and Babies, trading as Tresillian, was formed in 1918 to coordinate early child and maternal health care services in New South Wales (NSW). Tresillian is now the largest early child and family health and parenting service in Australia, operating from four sites in metropolitan Sydney and numerous regional and rural sites supporting service provision to families across NSW, VIC and ACT.

Tresillian is a Certified Child Safe Leader and is dedicated to creating a workplace environment where children’s rights are recognised and championed. Tresillian is pleased to offer the opportunity for experienced and motivated Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives to join the Tresillian QEII Family Centre (QEII) team within our ACT facility.  Applicants must hold postgraduate qualification in Child and Family Health.  

The Residential Unit provides care 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.  Applicants will be required to work on a rotating roster.   The Registered Nurse or Midwife Level 2 will take the lead in the provision of quality child and family health services to families caring for children 0-3 years of age within a Tresillian service. The incumbent will use a strength-based and wellness focus, building on parental confidence and skills through the provision of information, education, resources, guidance and role modelling safe responsive care.   The registered midwife/nurse, utilising evidenced based screening and assessment tools, will use their family partnership skills to identify health variations or family vulnerabilities in order to negotiate individual care plans and discharge pathways to meet the goals of the family. 

 Essential: 1. Current registration as a Registered Midwife/Nurse with the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia with postgraduate /post registration qualifications in Child and Family Health. 2. Four years post-graduation experience, including three years’ experience in Child and Family Health. Part time applicants’ length of service will be calculated on a pro rata basis. 3. Demonstrated expertise in the assessment of physical, emotional and psychological family needs, and the subsequent planning, implementation and evaluation of interventions, with a strong focus on working in partnership with clients. 4. Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate with clients, families and colleagues, based on recognition of team priorities, with ability to explore a range of solutions to problems within the context of primary health care in a multidisciplinary setting. 5. Demonstrated commitment to the provision of evidence-based nursing practice and translation of National Quality Standards in clinical practise. 6. Demonstrated leadership in or contribution to changes to clinical practices including process redesign and monitoring. 7. Current ACT or NSW Drivers Licence Class C.

Prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to: 1) Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check. 2) Comply with ACT Health Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination clinical procedure. 3) Provide evidence of COVID-19 vaccination or an approved exemption before commencement of employment.
