Requisition ID: 51427

Employment Type: Full time

Good things start here

This could be the very first step towards an exciting new career with us – a fresh beginning. At the Coles Group, these are moments we live for.

Starting good things is what drives our purpose: to sustainably feed all Australians so they can lead healthier, happier lives. With a team of 120,000 people and an iconic portfolio of Australia’s most trusted brands, we’re perfectly positioned to turn a promising start into a whole lot more.

With three iconic brands (First Choice, Liquorland and Vintage Cellars), our Liquor team is well on its way to becoming Australia’s favourite drinks retailer, serving up everything from premium wines and craft beers to spirits from local distilleries. We’re passionate about understanding what our customers enjoy, and have people working across supply chain, marketing, finance and strategy to make this happen.

About the role

Supporting the Liquor Merchandise Transformation program, you will work closely with the Category Buying Manager and will be accountable for assisting them in landing key projects across the business and supporting a customer-centric renewal strategy in our stores. This is a unique role in that you will be working across all liquor categories; beer, wine, spirits, ready-to-drink and non-liquor within our Liquorland and First Choice Liquor Market banners.

What you’ll be doing

On a day to day basis you will be responsible for analytics, trade planning and operational support leveraging commercial analysis to drive results for our renewal stores.

You will also:

  • gain data driven insights to shape the approach to address challenges and opportunities in our customer offer
  • manage the collection, input and maintenance of all category data, including promotional systems, data systems and new lines
  • assist in the execution of the pricing, clearance, promotion, range selection and layout development
  • manage administration duties; embracing integrity issues, clearance requests and data integrity investigations
  • assist in management of key processes including marketing briefs/point of sale and sign off on content and accuracy

Good things you’ll need

We are looking for a passionate team member with extensive experience working within an FMCG and/or retail environment with strong knowledge of merchandising function and processes.

You’ll also need

  • strong organisational skills and ability to plan ahead to support the unique needs of individual categories
  • prior experience with promotional and trade planning
  • exceptional stakeholder management with the ability to work closely and influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives
  • strong commercial acumen with experience applying this to interpret industry dynamics and competitive retail landscape
  • strong analytical skills demonstrated through proactively sourcing customer insights and data to formulate category recommendations
  • experience working within cross functional teams to manage and execute projects #LI-BU
